Supporting community growth
Concord International School, Client
Fundraising in, and for, an under-resourced school and its families.
Annual dinner and fundraising auction Serving a thriving community in South Seattle, Concord offers Spanish dual-language and all-English international curricula to serve it’s students, who are 89% children of color, 60% English language learners, 70% immigrants, and 75% low income. Because the community is primarily low income, the school faces barriers to raising funds, which enable them to provide a variety of important services to students. Design themes vary by event, and take into consideration the rich mix of cultures represented in the community.

Other Fundraisers
Community dinner / Cena comunidad Each year the Concord PTA puts on four community dinners — events that provide an opportunity to share a meal and celebrate community, connect, share successes, needs, and find volunteer opportunities. The goal of these posters was to increase attendance and anticipation, also attracting area nonprofits to “table” at the dinners, increasing capacity to connect school families and community to services. Design deliverables include an event poster, and graphics for social media. Pieces are created in both English and Spanish.
Designing Community
One-Off Events
Event posters, flyers and social media campaigns Throughout the year, the PTA sponsors several events, such as Day of the Dead or Teacher Appreciation Week, for which they need engagement materials — from posters and graphics to advertising on social media. Because these events are mainly one-off, or just need continuity year over year, it’s been a fun place to explore different design directions. Materials are created in both English and Spanish, often including posters, flyers, and social media and newsletter graphics.
